One playful afternoon changed Lulu’s life, but thanks to your support, she now has a second chance.
When you look at Lulu today, it’s hard to imagine how quickly her world changed.
What started as a normal day of play turned into a frightening emergency. While happily running around with our other dogs, Lulu accidentally slid into a wall with her back end. At first, she seemed completely fine and carried on playing. But shortly afterwards, she lay down and was unable to get back up again.
With no X-ray facilities available locally, Lulu had to be rushed to a veterinary clinic in South Bali. Initial scans showed no fractures or broken bones, but further examinations revealed a much more serious problem. Lulu required specialist testing and ultimately surgery to give her the best chance of recovery.
After surgery, there were encouraging signs. Although tired and disoriented from the anaesthetic, Lulu was able to urinate and defecate by herself, a very positive indication for her recovery. Her surgical wound healed well, and before long she was brightening up, eating normally again and showing her sweet personality.
One of the happiest moments came when Lulu was finally able to return home. Despite the long journey, she was overjoyed to see her familiar friends and carers again. Her tail wagged, her spirits lifted, and everyone celebrated this important milestone.
Recovery, however, is a long process. Lulu currently remains on strict rest and is unable to move around independently. She needs regular care, including being turned frequently to prevent pressure sores while her body heals. It is heartbreaking to see such an active, playful dog lying quietly when we are used to watching her race around full of life.
The good news is that Lulu is making steady progress, and her veterinary team remains hopeful. With patience, rehabilitation and lots of love, we hope to help her regain her strength and mobility over the coming months.
Lulu’s story is a reminder of how quickly life can change for a rescue dog and how vital community support is. Every donation, no matter the size, helped make her treatment possible and gave her the chance she deserved.
